Therapy Study Details

In the Therapy Study, we make and test a mental health therapy for adults with ID who have anxiety or worry a lot of the time.

  • 1

Learning from other therapy studies, we will make a group therapy for adults with ID.

  • 2

We will offer this therapy to 15 adults with ID and the people who support them. That way, the adult with ID can practice skills they learn with someone they know. This group will meet online for eight weeks. We will ask them if they liked the therapy and if it helped them.

  • 3

We will give another type of program to 15 adults with ID and their supporters. We ask them the same questions about how well the program works to treat anxiety.

  • 4

By comparing the therapy with the other type of program, we can learn how much the new therapy helps with anxiety.

  • 5

We will use what we learn to teach therapists how to use group therapy to help their clients with ID who have anxiety.
