Gloria L. Krahn, PhD, MPH

Dr. Gloria Krahn, PhD, MPH is a Professor (retired) at Oregon State University and consults to government, academics and organizations. Previously, Dr. Krahn served as the Barbara E. Knudson Endowed Chair in Family Policy at Oregon State University, Director of the Oregon Institute on Disability and Development,  Director of the Rehabilitation Research and Training Center on Health of People with Long Term Disabilities, and Director of the Division of Human Development and Disability in the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Her professional interests are to promote health and wellbeing, particularly for underserved populations, such as people with disabilities. Most recently, she has directed attention to improving population survey and administrative data for persons with intellectual disability.

Dr. Krahn presently consults with Special Olympics International as co-chair of their Scientific Advisory Board. A specific focus now is on documenting the impact of participation in Special Olympics on health of Special Olympic athletes, using inclusive research methods and longitudinal design. She earned her master’s degree and PhD in clinical psychology from the University of Manitoba. Dr. Krahn serves as co-chair of the Research Experience Expert Panel (REEP) on the RRTC grant. As a member of the REEP, her duties include assisting with project planning, making recommendations on project design and methodology.
