Marc J. Tassé, PhD

Dr. Tassé received his PhD in Research – Clinical Psychology from the Université du Québec à Montréal (1994). Following his graduate studies, he completed a postdoctoral fellowship at The Ohio State University Nisonger Center, a University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD). He then accepted a position of Assistant Professor of Psychology at the Université du Québec à Montréal and remained from 1995-1999. In August of 1999, he joined the faculty at the University of North Carolina (UNC) at Chapel Hill as an Associate Professor of Psychiatry. Dr. Tassé remained at UNC until December 2006, when he joined the faculty of the University of South Florida (USF). He also served as the Associate Director of the USF Florida Center for Inclusive Communities – UCEDD from 2006-2009.

Today, Dr. Tassé is a Professor in the Department of Psychology and the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health and serves as the Director of the Nisonger Center. Dr. Tassé has 30+ years of experience in conducting research and providing clinical services in the field of intellectual disability (ID), autism spectrum disorder (ASD), and other related neurodevelopmental disorders. Dr. Tassé is a Co-Lead investigator on the RRTC and provides leadership and oversight of the RRTC prevalence study. The prevalence study involves the clinical evaluation and determination of the presence/absence of psychiatric disorders in adults with intellectual disability to determine the point prevalence of co-occurrence of ID and psychiatric disorder.
